Description
An awesome take on the classic playground game. Perfect for assessment!!
This is one of my students’ FAVORITE games. I had some students who begged me to play in the classroom at the end of the time for a few minutes for weeks on end. Finally, I wanted to know what this game was about and found a great way to make it music. As it turned out, 4 corners is one of the best ways that I can assess my kids! This game can make the practice part of Kodaly fun for students while making your job easy!

This is great! My kids have been asking to play four corners, and I needed a way to involve music in it, too. There are so many options available. Thanks for including six eight, too! I will be using this soon!
Shelley –
Yay! I’m glad I made the 6/8. I have some friends who use the Conversational Solfege method, so I made it with them in mind!

Thank you for including syncopa and 6/8! A couple small things though:
1) I have 30-31 kids in each of my classes so I don’t see myself being able to follow the directions of having each student say their rhythm card. It would be great if you included what to do if you have a large classroom!
2) I love the clip art, but there are children with cross-eyes, and I feel like the cards with the cross-eyed children might cause other kids to make fun of them.
Thanks for including other variations.
Shelley –
Thanks for the feedback.
With the bigger groups, I have them work in groups of 2 or 3 for reading a rhythm. I’m still able to see who has trouble, and who has it. 🙂
As far as the clip art, I really appreciate the feedback and hadn’t thought of that. I don’t really see me changing it just because I was going for whimsical, but I will add it to my list of things to do eventually…I’ll definitely keep this in mind when I do the solfege variation of the cards! 🙂

I love these cards and that they are in sets with differentiated rhythm levels, especially stick notation for my kindergarteners. The kids love playing Four Corners. I get asked to play it all the time. It’s a great game for assessing their rhythm reading skills and for getting some wiggles out. Thank you
Melissa A M. –
My students found this a wonderful way to review rhythmic patterns and listen carefully for the correct pattern. It was engaging as they were able to “run” around the room in order to show their answers.

Oh my gosh! I had never played 4 corners in my music classroom before. This was a huge hit. I appreciate the resource to use in future years. Great assessment tool!
