I heard the term May-cember the other day and I think that completely sums up May. ALL the things crammed in before the school year ends and it is bound to catch up to you! We all need all the help we can get so here are my “3” resources for the end of the year.

Checklists

The end of the year is a flurry of things to do, never ending activities, and for a lot of music teachers, more performances, sing a song at this event, and coordination of extra activities. It can be really easy to forget some tasks at the end of the year. Hopefully this list will help you remember some of those things that could slip your mind. Check out the post here.

Awards

This time of year we like to remind students of their accomplishments. Award students for their hard work, cheering on others, something they accomplished, or more.

These editable award sets will help you give all your students a boost.

Time Fillers

Whatever the reason, sometimes we need to fill time. If you are finished with your curriculum, if you are not wanting to start the next concept, or if you have classes in different places because of missed days for field trips, weather, or whatever reason, you might need to fill time in one class. Here are some easy time fillers:

Play Alongs

There are a plethora of play alongs on YouTube for Boomwhackers, body percussion, or classroom instruments. Pick an engaging play along and let students have some fun.

Composing

Let them get creative! If it’s needing to bust out a composition activity, write their own patterns, or even create their own play along, let students flex their creative muscles.

Outdoor Games

Get outside! Introduce a few new games that you might want to come back to for conceptual learning next year, or pull out a student favorite. Here are some of my favorite games for outdoors.

Music or Not

These games are one of my favorite resources. Even older students have fun with these silly but informative games. These five engaging games to get your students excited and are my must have for all of those moments you need to catch their attention, fill some time, or are perfect to include for a sub. I bet even you can’t get them all right!

I hope this gives you some ideas!
